One of my brothers gave me two beautiful books on illustration for Christmas (The Big Book of Contemporary Illustration edited by Martin Dawber and The Picture Book edited by Angus Hyland). The former features a drawing called ‘Cornucopia’ by a French illustrator by the name of Lotie. Her website is a joy – take a look here and see what I mean http://www.lotie.com/

I had to take a magnifying glass to a small section of the drawing to see how it had been done so delicately. I attempted a little snippet of it – nowhere near as lovely as the real thing – but a lesson in patience and precision. Very inspiring. Reminded me of a quote by the Buddha: ‘If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change.’
