Out of sight

I bought some anemones, and did some drawings of them a few posts back. I took the vase into a sunny room to take some photos too. I left them in the sunny room.

Now, I don’t know if you are the same, but with me, out of sight is definitely out of mind. If I can’t see something, I have a tendency to forget about its existence. (You can understand why my preferred filing system centres around orderly piles dotted on the perimeter of my office floor. It is also why my life depends on lists.)

So yesterday, just as I was dozing off to sleep, I frightened my husband by suddenly announcing ‘Anemones’ out loud. I remembered I’d left the poor waterless flowers in the sunny room. I brought them back from the dead with water and a sprinkle of sugar this morning. The single inky blue one revived just enough to be painted.
