Imposters

We have these bluebell-type flowers in the garden, alongside some lilac coloured ones. I looked them up to see what their proper name is, and it seems they are probably some kind of hybrid. They smell like hyacinths. Anyway, imposters or not, I like them. In the process of finding out what they were, I came across the Natural History Museum website. Worth exploring the beautiful art collections online. I feel a visit coming on.

  1. we have the same flowers.
a gardener friend said she thought they were hyacinths – the attempts at a bloom from old/diseased bulbs…
    lovely sketches 🙂

  2. Beautiful painting! It is so delicate, but detailed. I love the fragrance of spring flowers and the smell of new grass. Thank you for sharing this beauty from your garden, and your skills in sketching.
