Bigfoot

This is the kind of bird that only its mother could love. A purple swamphen (from the rail group of birds, which includes moorhens, coots and crakes). They possess the bird equivalent of size 16 feet. Not good in Manolo Blahniks, but ideal for creeping across reed beds.

  1. Too cool! We call them purple gallinules down here. For a long time I swore they were a mythical bird. The moorhens were aplenty, but I never saw one of these. Then one day I went to a place (can’t remember now where), and I was surrounded! I thought I was in paradise! You have captured the shape of the bird and the big feet perfectly, and I love the stylized way you drew him.
