Strawberry afternoon

I spent some time this afternoon painting this strawberry for the next pages of the Sketchbook Project, illustrating lines from a lovely poem by Edwin Morgan. I successfully managed to ignore the fact that it is January, and anything but a ‘sultry afternoon’ outside.

  1. Oh, you make me long for spring and fresh strawberries. At the moment we are caught here in the deepfreeze – in Manitoba, Canada.

  2. Hmm … it seems that I need to move to California. And credit for realism must also go to the teaching of British botanical artist Billy Showell in her book on painting fruit and veg in watercolour – brilliant book.
