I have to tell you, I am not usually a morning person. Normally, I struggle to surface before 8 am. This sunny morning however, we were all awake at 6.00. The reason? The Boy is cycling 110 miles coast to coast to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust*. The Husband has been enlisted as Support Vehicle. So, they were on the road up to the North East bright and early, as the aim is to do the ride in under 10 hours. (Luckily I spotted the bag containing The Boy’s padded cycling shorts just after they’d set off, and they came back to pick that up. That could have been a very painful ride otherwise …)
So, fully and unusually awake, I sat down with a cup of tea and sketched these ridiculously comfortable shoes (with a Noodler’s Ahab pen** and Noodler’s Lexington Grey ink).
I’m feeling a painting coming on too. And maybe an afternoon nap …

**I thought this was a complete waste of money when this pen first arrived from the USA. It leaked and generally misbehaved. However, having taken it to bits and adjusted it so the ink flows properly, it’s now a favourite.
