Fifty shades of grey

Ok, not what you were thinking …

I’ve been working in shades of grey. This happens every so often. I suddenly turn away from colour to monochrome. I think it could be a reaction against the colourful Christmas cards I’ve been designing for clients over the past couple of weeks.

So I’ve been experimenting with various shades of grey. This avocet was created with copperplate iron gall ink, which contains indigo and logwood on Arches watercolour paper.
