Mother’s ruin

A kind visitor recently arrived bearing gifts: a squat bottle of Hendrick’s gin, limes, lemons, cucumber and tonic water. (Such visitors are always welcome.)

I had never heard of Hendrick’s gin until then. Now I am a convert. As if the lovely taste was not enough, the tiny illustrated leaflet that explains the brand’s history and ingredients (rose petal, cucumber for example) is a little work of art and cannot be thrown away.

And if you don’t know the history behind the term ‘Mother’s ruin’, you can find out more here.
