Fields of gold

The photo was taken on a visit to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last weekend. The park opened to the public last month, after a major transformation from its role as the main venue for the London 2012 Olympics. We were curious to see how it had changed since our last visit there to see several of the Olympic events.

Not everyone likes what has been done to the place (Tim Richardson for the Telegraph newspaper wrote this article for example). But it was a sunny, warm Saturday when we went, and the park was popular – people having picnics, kids getting drenched in the famous fountains there, runners, cyclists. I loved the wildflower gardens: a little bit of peace and tranquility in London never goes amiss.
