Young kestrel

Hello. I’m back after a break from blogging over the summer. We were in beautiful Cornwall last week, staying in Padstow. A sunny week of walking the South West coast path, eating great food, reading a lot of novels, writing and sketching. My idea of heaven.

I walked up to Stepper Point, which is on the headland to one side of the mouth of the River Camel. It was a glorious day and as I sat down for a breather at the top of the hill, I became the one-woman audience for a fine display of hunting by this young kestrel. He surveys his domain from the top of the stone tower which was built as a ‘day mark’, or daylight navigation point for sailors.

I felt like the luckiest person in the world sitting there on a warm September morning in that lovely place with this fantastic bird just a couple of feet away from me.

Have a great weekend. More posts coming up next week.
